ARCO/Murray Completes Florida Asset

 

ARCO/Murray partnered with Compson Development to complete a new storage facility in Plantation, Florida. Extra Space Storage will manage the property.

 

 

 

Storage Veteran Bill Humble Passes Away

 

Bill Humble, an organizing force for self storage in Arkansas, passed away March 25 in Little Rock.

Humble, 86, is credited with founding the Arkansas Self Storage Association in 2005 in response to a statewide sales tax on storage rents. He rallied owners statewide and lobbied for its repeal. Arkansas is the only state to successfully reverse a sales tax law once enacted.

An Air Force veteran and former insurance salesman and men’s tie manufacturer, Humble co- founded U-Storit in Little Rock after selling his prior businesses. Just this past September, Humble was honored as the 2024 recipient of the SSA’s Michael T. Scanlon Jr. Award.

 

Marcus & Millichap Brokers Sales

 

Marcus & Millichap brokered the following sales:


•    Storage Fit in Garland, Texas. The buyer is based in Dallas-Fort Worth.
•    Huffman 2100 Storage in Huffman, Texas. The buyer was an Arizona-based REIT.
•    RightSpace Storage in Spanish Fork, Utah. The buyer is based in New York.

 

Trachte Buys MakoRabco

 

Trachte Building Systems acquired MakoRabco. Both brands, as well as the Trac-Rite Door Division, will continue to operate under their established brands with current leadership, employees and established locations. Trachte will provide MakoRabco access to roll-up doors and storage building packages. Trachte is an employee-owned company and manufacturer of metal prefabricated buildings. MakoRabco provides self storage design and construction services.

 

SmartStop Plans IPO

 

SmartStop Self Storage REIT Inc. is seeking to list itself on the New York Stock Exchange. SmartStop filed a registration statement on Form S-11 with the Securities and Exchange Commission to offer 27,000,000 shares of its common stock to the public. The public offering price is expected to be between $28 and $36 per share. SmartStop has been approved to list its common stock on the NYSE as SMA. SmartStop is seeking to raise as much as $972 million.

 

Calcumate Buys Mini Calculator

 

Calcumate acquired Mini Storage Calculator from NetViper Interactive Inc. Existing Mini Storage Calculator customers will be transitioned to Calcumate.
