The SSA Foundation Board of Governors and the SSA Board of Directors will provide oversight to SSA Magazine and its educational content.
The Self Storage Association Foundation's (SSAF) mission is to provide timely, accurate industry information, communication and exceptional educational experiences for SSA members and owner-operators and investors across the United States and in affiliated nations. The SSAF sponsors a SSA Foundation Forum and a general session executive education program at both national SSA conferences and conventions on topical and cutting-edge topics of interest to the industry at-large.
SSAF also provides information, education and training as to the SSA-adopted Code of Ethics and by promoting respect for the anti-trust laws of the United States and foreign nations that must be adhered to by all companies involved in this industry. The Board of the Foundation is authorized to recognize accomplishments, achievements and significant landmarks within the industry, including serving as the Nominating Body of persons to the SSA Board for annual induction into the Self Storage Hall of Fame. The Board of the Foundation may from time to time acknowledge persons both inside and outside the industry who have contributed to the betterment of the industry by way of special awards and recognitions. SSAF will make charitable contributions to worthy causes, efforts and for educational purposes on behalf of the self storage industry such as the SSAF Scholarship Program.

John Dunlap currently is the founder and president of Decidedly Dunlap Public Relations, a self storage-oriented organization that produces press releases, website copy and blogs. John is formerly the editor of SSA Magazine and is a photo artist who has regular art gallery shows. He a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and lives in Concord, NC, with his wife Lee and twins Katie and Jake.
Laura holds a BA in English and a minor in photo journalism from West Virginia University. For more than 20 years, she’s been covering business, entertainment and media literacy for national publications including SSA Magazine.
Laura is a Charlotte-based freelance writer who has covered the self storage industry for more than a dozen years. An independent writer since 2000, Laura is a regular contributor to the Charlotte Business Journal.
Mark has written professionally for 25+ years, covering a wide variety of topics and industries. In addition to contributing to SSA Magazine for approximately 15 years, he has written about parking, marketing, business networking, transportation, public safety and more.
