JV Acquires 8-Property Portfolio

 

ASB Real Estate Investments and Arcland Property Company have acquired a portfolio of eight self storage facilities in a joint venture. The eight buildings are located in markets concentrated throughout Virginia and Maryland. The seller was Chesapeake Resources, Inc.

 

 

 

SkyView Brokers Three Sales

 

SkyView Advisors brokered the following sales:

A facility managed by CubeSmart in the Tampa-St. Petersburg-Clearwater, Florida MSA. SkyView's Richard Riddle and Ryan Clark represented the seller in the transaction.

Soundside Storage, in the Pensacola, Florida, MSA. Zachary Urow and Clark represented the seller in the transaction.

A facility managed by Extra Space Storage in the Houston, Texas, MSA. Urow and Clark represented the seller in the transaction.

 

Bellomy Brokers Houston Project

 

Bellomy & Co. brokered the sale of Houston Mini Storage in Houston, Texas. 

Bill Bellomy and Michael Johnson represented TPH SPE LLC, the Salt Lake City, Utah-based seller. The team also procured the Houston based buyer, Houston Mini Storage LLC.

 

Spartan on Inc. 5000 list

 

Spartan Investment Group is ranked No. 166 on the annual Inc. 5000 list, a prestigious ranking of the nation’s fastest-growing private companies. This is the second year in a row that Golden, Colorado-based Spartan Investment Group has made the list. In 2020, Spartan was in spot #308. To achieve this, Spartan’s growth was 2,543% from 2018 to 2020.

 

Life Storage’s Killeen to Retire

 

Edward Killeen, the chief operating officer of Life Storage, Inc., will retire from the company effective December 31, 2021. Killeen has been with Life Storage for 24 years and held various roles with the company. David Dodman, senior vice president of strategic planning and investor relations, will become COO.

 

Pogoda Appoints Agnello

 

Beau Agnello has been named senior vice president of operations at Pogoda Companies. Agnello will be responsible for overseeing all operations for Pogoda’s portfolio and third-party managed properties.

 

BETCO Builds ‘Smart Building’

 

BETCO Inc. has launched the self storage industry’s first “smart building,” the first and only building design to incorporate award-winning products and solutions from BETCO Inc., Janus International Group, Inc. and Nokē Smart Entry. The building includes a custom BETCO building, roll-up doors from Janus International, and robust technology and security products and integrations from the Nokē Smart Entry division.

 

Andover Acquires Texas Property

 

Andover Properties, LLC has acquired Storage 365 Centerville in Garland, Texas, marking its 11th acquisition in the Dallas-Fort Worth MSA and 30th facility in the state. The facility was built in 2019.

 

Marcus & Millichap Brokers Florida Deal

 

Marcus & Millichap brokered the sale of Sea Coast Self-Storage in Fort Pierce, Florida. Chris Travis, Tim Lamson and Hunter Robey in the Tampa office had the exclusive listing to market the property on behalf of the seller, a private investor.  The buyer, a limited liability company, was secured and represented by the Travis Self-Storage Group.

 

Coastal Project Changes Owners

 

Berkshire Hathaway CRE brokered the sale of Terminal Storage in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Parker Sweet, president, and Cameron Vale, senior vice president, represented the seller, an institutional buyer from Charlotte, North Carolina, and the undisclosed seller.

 

U-Haul Developing Two Projects

 

U-Haul is currently pursuing the following projects:

U-Haul intends to pursue adaptive reuse of an unoccupied warehouse in the Steele Creek area of Charlotte, North Carolina. U-Haul acquired the property in June.

U-Haul plans a facility in St. Augustine, Florida, scheduled for completion by 2022.

U-Haul acquired the property on July 8.

 

StorQuest Adds Two in California

 

StorQuest Self Storage has opened a newly developed facility in Sacramento, California, its ninth in the market.

StorQuest has also assumed management and rebranded an Extra Space Self Storage located in Chula Vista, California.

 

Long Island Project Underway

 

Spartanburg, South Carolina-based Johnson Development Associates is building a new self storage facility in Glen Head, New York, according to Long Island Business News. The project is on the former site of an industrial building. Life Storage will manage the facility when it opens next spring.

 

Safeguard Plans Connecticut Conversion

 

Safeguard Self-Storage will build a self storage facility in Stamford, Connecticut. Safeguard will convert the former United House Wrecking location.

 

Meridian Brokers 3 Sales

 

Meridian Storage Group brokered the following sales:

Eagles Nest Storage in Flagler Beach, Florida. Patrick Kidder represented the seller and secured the national buyer.

Alpine Mini Storage in Huntsville, Alabama. Kidder represented the seller and secured the purchaser, a first time self storage buyer. 

Smallwood Storage in Waldorf, Maryland. Taylor Dooley represented the seller and secured the purchaser, a large private buyer. 

 

Midcoast Brokers Georgia Property

 

Midcoast Properties Inc. brokered the sale of American Storage in Ellijay, Georgia.  Dale C. Eisenman represented the seller. The facility was sold to an out-of-state buyer.
