ARCO/Murray Design Build completed a new storage facility in Houston, Texas, for YourSpace America. The property is operated by CubeSmart. 

 

 

 

Public Storage Buying Canadian Counterpart

 

Public Storage will acquire Public Storage Canada in a transaction valued at approximately $1.2 billion. The Public Storage Canada platform was built by founder Wayne Hughes and has been independently owned and operated by the Hughes family under the Public Storage brand for decades. The acquisition will expand Public Storage’s platform in major Canadian markets. The portfolio consists of 68 properties totaling 5.3 million square feet.

 

IREGC Buys Maryland Property

 

The Investment Real Estate Group of Companies acquired a storage facility in Easton, Maryland, which will be rebranded as Moove In Self Storage. 

 

Boxwell, All From One Supply Form Alliance

 

Boxwell Partners has formed a partnership with All From One Supply so owners of Boxwell portable storage containers and relocatable self storage units can now source replacement parts. 

 

Marcus & Millichap Arranges Texas Loan

 

Marcus & Millichap Capital Corporation arranged $8.2 million in financing for a storage business in DeSoto, Texas, operated by Grizzly Self Storage. 

 

Versal Sells Texas Storage

 

Versal arranged the sale of LifeSmart Storage in The Colony, Texas. RR Colony Storage Holdings was the seller and Visamar Real Estate was the buyer.

 

Marcus & Millichap, Insurer Form Partnership

 

Marcus & Millichap announced a partnership with Brown & Brown, one of the world’s largest insurance brokerage firms as part of Marcus & Millichap’s recently launched Preferred Partner Program. The partnership will give Marcus & Millichap clients access to data-driven insurance indications, portfolio analysis and risk management resources.

•    9th & X Self Storage in Sacramento, California. The seller was a private investor and Extra Space Storage was the buyer.
•    Northwest RV & Self Storage in Tucson, Arizona. 

 

Bluefin Buys Storage Near Philadelphia

 

Bluefin Capital acquired the former Hide & Seek Self-Storage in Limerick, Pennsylvania. Extra Space Storage will manage the property. 

 

Yardi: Advertised Rates Decline Over Year

 

Advertised self storage rates declined year-over-year in May, according to Yardi Matrix. Only Minneapolis and Indianapolis among the top 30 metros that saw year-over-year rate growth. 

 

Atlanta Considers Storage Permit

 

Atlanta City Council is considering requiring a special permit for self storage facilities, similar to an approach they’ve taken regulating data center development.
