U-Haul Plans Bakersfield Project

 

U-Haul plans a new facility in Bakersfield, California. The company acquired an 11.5-acre building site for $2.2 million from Nelson Family Trust.

 

Argus Brokers Oklahoma Assets

 

Argus Self Storage Advisors and Jones Investment Real Estate brokered the sale of the Fortress Self Storage portfolio in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The properties sold to a private buyer.

 

Smartlock to Convert Missouri Retail

 

Smartlock Self Storage is converting a former Gordmans and JCPenney store in Kirksville, Missouri, to self storage. The project will be done by late summer.

 

OpenTech Integrates with European Software

 

OpenTech Alliance Inc. has integrated its access control system, Insomniac CIA with Space Manager from RADical Systems Ltd. and Stora Ltd. The moves coincide with OpenTech’s increased activity in the European storage market.

 

SSGT Buys New Jersey Facility

 

Strategic Storage Growth Trust III Inc. acquired a facility in Eatontown, New Jersey. The property will be rebranded to SmartStop Self Storage.

 

Bronx Tops 2022 Storage Sales

 

The Bronx, New York, topped all cities for self storage sales in 2022 with sales totaling $235 million, according to StorageCafe. The Bronx was followed by Phoenix, Arizona, Ocala, Florida, Brooklyn, New York, and Alexandria, Virginia, to round out the top five.

 

Perlmuter Promoted

 

Marcus & Millichap has promoted Meir Perlmuter to first vice president of investments, and Lukas Dawley to senior associate. Both are in the Columbus, Ohio, office.  

 

Developer Plans Mixed-Use with Storage

 

Coral Gables, Florida-based Altis Cardinal plans a mixed-use development in St. Petersburg, Florida, called Skyway Village that will include a new storage facility. The project also includes apartments and commercial space.  

 

Talonvest Arranges StorQuest Loan

 

Talonvest Capital arranged a $142 million loan on behalf of William Warren Group and its
institutional venture partner to acquire a 13-storage property portfolio. The facilities are in Arizona, California, Colorado, New Jersey, New York and Washington.

 

Mississippi Operator Plans 3rd Location

 

Jackson Self Storage will build a new facility in Jackson, Mississippi. This will be the company’s third location.

 

Madison Capital to Convert Florida Sears

 

Madison Capital Group intends to convert a former Sears store in Melbourne, Florida, to storage. The company bought the property for $10 million in 2020.
