Midcoast Sells Alabama Asset

 

Midcoast Properties, Inc. brokered the sale of Tiger Town Storage in Opelika, Alabama. J. Kris Knowles facilitated the sale. The facility was sold to a regional buyer.

 

StorageMart Chooses CallPotential

 

StorageMart has selected CallPotential to power their first-party call center. CallPotential empowers teams to leverage their internal call center as a revenue growth engine and deliver more human customer experiences at scale with the use of pre-context data, weighted prioritization, intelligent routing, and automation. StorageMart is the largest privately-owned self storage company with 270+ locations in the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom.

 

SmartStop Lauded for Solar

 

SmartStop Self Storage REIT was named a top corporate solar user in 2022 by the Solar Energy Industries Association. SmartStop ranked in the top 1% in the number of solar installations at its owned and managed properties and in the top 6% for solar adoption capacity (in megawatts) among the more than 5,000 businesses surveyed.

 

JLL Assists Baranof, Clarion on Deal

 

JLL Capital Markets arranged a recapitalization of two new self storage facilities in San Diego and Los Angeles, California, on behalf of the seller, Baranof Holdings. Clarion Partners is Baranof’s new partner, buying out the ownership stake formerly held by Invesco Real Estate. Brian Somoza led JLL’s team representing Baranof Holdings.

 

Tenant Integrates with Veritec

 

Tenant Inc., has developed an integration with Veritec Solutions to give storage operators access to pricing analytics tools to optimize revenue generation. The Veritec Self Storage Revenue Management System enables medium to large companies to obtain revenue benefits. Tenant’s open platform gives operators full ownership and control of their data.

 

Maya, Artemis Get Help from Newmark

 

Newmark has arranged a $300 million programmatic joint venture between Maya Capital Partners and Artemis Real Estate Partners to buy storage assets in the Northeastern United States. The Newmark team was led by Dustin Stolly and Jordan Roeschlaub. The venture has purchased an asset in New Rochelle, New York, which will be rebranded as Drive Up Storage.

 

U-Haul Plans Alaska Conversion

 

U-Haul purchased a former Walmart in Juneau, Alaska, and will convert it to storage and a residential mobility services location. The building has been vacant since 2016.

 

SkyView Brokers Pennsylvania Deals

 

SkyView Advisors brokered the following sales:

 

  • A self storage facility in the greater Philadelphia, Pennsylvania area. Richard Riddle and Scott Schoettlin managed the transaction.

  • A self storage facility in the Scranton, Pennsylvania metro area. Riddle and Schoettlin handled the deal.

 

Absolute Chosen for Management

 

The Nuveen Group, owners of MyPlace Self Storage in Fairfield, Alabama, have contracted with Absolute Storage Management to manage the facility.

 

Public Storage Reopens Flagship Asset

 

Public Storage has reopened a facility adjacent to Apple, Inc. offices in Cupertino, California. Public Storage enhanced and enlarged the existing 40-year-old facility. The facility is being certified to LEED Silver standards.

 

NexPoint Buys SAFStor Portfolio

 

NexPoint Storage Partners, Inc, a storage platform affiliated with NexPoint Advisors, has purchased 29 properties developed by SAFStor. The acquisition brings NexPoint Storage to a total of 71 wholly owned and operated properties. The new portfolio of properties is located in Baltimore, Cleveland, Detroit, Houston, Miami, Ft. Lauderdale, Nashville, New Orleans, Philadelphia and Washington, D.C.

 

Stoic Develops Alabama Asset

 

Stoic Equity Partners has developed a new storage facility in Beulah, Alabama. The property will be managed by StoreEase in Birmingham.

 

Carlyle Acquires German Properties

 

Global investment firm Carlyle has acquired a portfolio of storage assets operating under the myStorage brand, alongside UK self storage operator Safestore. The portfolio consists of seven properties in Germany.

 

Prime Completes Off-Market Deal

 

Prime Group Holdings acquired Riverbend Self-Storage in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, for $35 million. The Storage Acquisitions Group brokered the off-market deal. The seller was a joint venture between Hernandez Development, Merrimac Ventures and Stiles.

 

Delaware Greenlights First State Plans

 

The Milford, Delaware, city council approved a conditional use for a storage facility by First State Self Storage.

 

KO Storage Adds Two Properties

 

KO Storage added two facilities in Minot, North Dakota, and Watertown, New York, markets where KO Storage already operates.
