Marcus & Millichap Brokers Deals

 

Marcus & Millichap brokered the following sales:

  • Ace Self Storage in Lawrence, Kansas. Sean M. Delaney and Robert Cook listed the property on behalf of the seller, a limited liability company and secured the buyer, a limited liability company.

  • Three Tri-Village Self Storage facilities in Columbus and Dublin, Ohio. Gabriel Coe and Brett Hatcher listed the property and procured the buyer.

  • Utah Valley Storage and RV in Orem, Utah. The LeClaire-Schlosser Group of Marcus & Millichap represented the seller and procured the buyer, Wentworth Property Co.

  • Scenic Self Storage in Littlefield, Arizona. Sean M. Delaney and Robert Cook had the exclusive listing to market the property on behalf of the seller, a limited liability company. The buyer, a private investor, was secured and represented by Adam Schlosser, Charles "Chico" LeClaire and Jordan Farrer.

 

SmartStop to Launch IPO

 

SmartStop Self Storage REIT, a privately traded trust, has filed with the SEC to form Strategic Storage Trust VI and launch a $1 billion initial public offering. SmartStop will use the funding to support a major expansion. SmartStop is already a REIT, but previously it has not been traded on a public stock exchange. SmartStop is the 10th largest self storage operator in the United States and also has a significant Toronto footprint.

 

Public Storage at Millionth Online Rental

 

Public Storage announced that one million customers have rented a storage space through its eRental online rental agreement. The digital self-service rental program launched in December 2019 to provide customers with an option to easily find, rent, and pay for their storage space from anywhere in about six minutes or less. Customer adoption of eRental quickly expanded nationwide in early 2020, and now accounts for half of the company’s more than one million customer move-ins each year.

 

SkyView Sells New Jersey Facility

 

SkyView Advisors closed Public Storage (managed) in Linden, New Jersey. Aaron Sanchez and Scott Schoettlin handled the transaction.

 

Amsdell Acquires Two Properties

 

Compass Self Storage acquired two new properties in Smithfield, Rhode Island, and Wildwood, Florida. Compass is a member of the Amsdell family of companies.

 

Andover Buys in Colorado

 

Andover Properties acquired Alameda Storage in Denver, Colorado, its second in the market. The property will be rebranded to Storage King USA.

 

Talonvest Secures Go Store It Loan

 

Talonvest Capital, Inc. represented Madison Capital Group in the negotiation of a $23 million loan for the acquisition of a self storage facility in Quincy, Massachusetts. The Talonvest team responsible for this assignment included Kim Bishop, Eric Snyder, Mason Brusseau, and Thalia Tovar.

 

Storage Post Adds in New York City

 

Storage Post Self Storage purchased a new self storage facility on Staten Island, New York. It’s the Atlanta-based company’s seventh acquisition this year.

 

KKR Building Portfolio

 

KKR purchased two self storage facilities in Denver, Colorado, and another in Nashville, Tennessee. In December, KKR launched Alpha Storage Properties.

 

Nuveen, My Place Plan JV

 

My Place Storage and its founder, Kurt O’Brien, intend to form a $300 million joint venture with Nuveen Real Estate focused on acquiring and operating self storage properties. O’Brien was formerly the CEO of Simply Self Storage. The law firm of Morrison & Foerster advised on the transaction.
