StorageMart Buys in Indiana

 

StorageMart Self Storage has purchased a former CubeSmart in Fisher, Indiana.

David Paulson, Stephen Lapierre and Wyatt Whitaker of Ackerman Co. and Steven Cornblatt and Coleman Tirone of Trout Daniel & Associates represented StorageMart in the transaction. The seller of the property was York Allison LLC of Georgia.

 

Sikula Joins BSC Group 

 

Drew Sikula has joined The BSC Group LLC in Chicago, Illinois, as a senior vice president. Sikula will be responsible for managing operations, building scalable infrastructure and driving growth. Previously, Sikula created and led Negotiation Matters Inc., an expense reduction consulting firm.

SmartStop Self Storage has acquired its seventh self storage facility in the Denver, Colorado, area with a property in Lakewood. Advent Property Advisors brokered the sale.

 

Georgia Theater Converting to U-Haul

 

U-Haul plans to repurpose the old Rome Cinemas movie theater in Rome, Georgia, into self storage. U-Haul acquired the property in September and expects to open U-Haul Moving & Storage of West Rome by spring 2022.

 

Cities with Lowest Per Capita Storage

 

As self storage faces record occupancies, StorageCafe by Yardi has compiled a list of the places among the largest metro areas with the lowest amount of self storage per capita, and therefore the places most squeezed for storage. The New York-Newark-Jersey City, area is most squeezed with 3.3 sq. ft. of self storage per capita. Philadelphia-Camden-Wilmington, is second with 4.0 square feet per capita. Third is Cleveland-Elyria, Ohio, with 4.2 square feet per capita and fourth is Boston-Cambridge-Newton with 4.2 square feet. Fifth most squeezed for self storage space is Los Angeles-Long Beach-Anaheim, California with 4.6 square feet per capita.

 

Stowaway Exec Joins ETSU Trustees

 

Charles E. Allen Jr., president of Stowaway Self Storage, has been appointed by Tennessee Governor Bill Lee to the East Tennessee State University Board of Trustees, according to the Johnson City Press. Allen is a former member of the Tennessee General Assembly.

Marcus & Millichap brokered the following sales:

• The Storage Place in Mesquite, Texas. Brandon Karr had the exclusive listing to market the property on behalf of the seller, a limited liability company, and he also procured the buyer.

• My Storage in Oakland, California. Christopher Secreto marketed the facility on behalf of the seller, a limited liability company in California. Secreto secured the New York-based institutional investment firm.

 

Devon Enters Orlando Market

Devon Self Storage has opened its first facility in Orlando, Florida. A grand opening was held November 1, 2021.

 

StorageMax Opens in Mississippi

 

StorageMax Ridgeland has opened in Ridgeland, Mississippi. The project took more than four years from site selection to certificate of occupancy.

 

NSA Buys Pinnacle Portfolio

 

Pinnacle Storage Properties, based in Katy, Texas, has sold a 14-property portfolio to National Storage Affiliates. The portfolio properties are in central and east Texas.

 

SkyView Brokers Georgia Property 

 

SkyView Advisors brokered the sale of a CubeSmart-managed property in Lawrenceville, Georgia. SkyView's Zachary Urow and Ryan Clark represented the seller.

 

Boardwalk Manager Lauded in Georgia

 

Donna Johnson, property manager with Boardwalk Storage – Loganville, was named Georgia Self Storage Association’s Manager of the Year Award for 2021. Johnson joined Boardwalk Storage in 2019.
